What Do You Desire?
When Paul first began coaching, David would explain to those who inquired that “Paul helps you to figure out what you wanted to do before your parents and society beat it out of you.“ If you’re looking for permission to follow your passions, you’ll want to take 3 minutes to watch this inspiring video from Alan Watts, a British-born philosopher, writer, and speaker, best known as an interpreter and popularizer of Eastern philosophy for a Western audience. In it, he challenges us to choose our vocation based on what we love doing, rather than for the sake of chasing after money. According to Watts: “Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way.” We agree.
Brene Brown: The Power of Vulnerability
When we first heard renowned researcher, author and speaker, Brene Brown say, “Connection is why we are here. It gives purpose and meaning to our lives,” we knew we had found a kindred spirit in the What Matters?! practice of Reach Out
Referencing her latest book, Daring Greatly, this entertaining and informative TED talk shares Dr. Brown’s research on what she has found to be one of the secret ingredients of connection: vulnerability. Vulnerability, you say, isn’t that a sign of weakness? On the contrary. In watching this video you’ll learn that vulnerability takes courage. Courage, Brown explains, comes from the latin word, cor, meaning heart. “The original definition [of courage], was to tell the story of who you are with your whole heart.” Based on more than ten years of research Brown makes the compelling argument that people who demonstrate vulnerability have the courage to be imperfect and are therefore able to connect. When we connect (a.k.a., Reach Out) our lives become more satisfying and fulfilled. Watch this video and be inspired to dare to be vulnerable for the sake of your own happiness.

Pharrell Williams Happy
We first heard Pharrell Williams' Happy when we were watching the 2013 Academy Awards. At the time we didn’t realize that it was a global phenomenon, (we’re kind of isolated in Cape Cod). Since then, it has become an almost daily ritual to dance around our house singing this uplifting and contagious tune. This YouTube version contains the lyrics and has received over 26,000,000 hits. We invite you to join us and “Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof!”
